One Charming Party: Water Party

I’m excited to share some work that I did for One Charming Party. I designed these fun invitations and thank yous for their Water Party, along with the other printables for the party (including cupcake toppers and party pennant).

If you’re not familiar with One Charming Party, let me tell you that they are a party company that does everything right! Their parties are mind-blowing. Sometimes I get just a little bit sick looking at their site, because I wonder how anyone can be THAT GOOD, and I imagine to myself that they live perfect, charming lives.

Their product is also very unique. For just $25, you can download a beautiful party plan that gives you all the steps you need to put together the perfect party. All the games and activities are planned out, all of the food is outlined, and all of the printables are included. AND you have a list of sources to help to figure out where to get everything.

When it comes to me and parties, the ONLY thing I can take care of is designing a good invitation. And then the rest, I am just absolutely LOST. These party plans are exactly the type of thing that I need to put together the perfect party.

Check out the rest of the Water Party on their blog! And I dare you not to get sucked into the archives of their blog, checking out all the other parties and ideas.

New at Petite Lemon

I’m excited that growth chart designs that I’ve developed went live on Petite Lemon today! Petite Lemon is an online boutique that offers personalized decor and stationery. These designs are for growth charts, which are available on poster paper or canvas! There are more colors online (and lots more styles!). Below are my designs.

And don’t forget, we are having our party TONIGHT at Alice Lane Home Collection! Hope to see some of you there!

Lime Ricki Site Redesign

My recent site redesign for Lime Ricki Swimwear went live today! Check out their awesomeness! And keep watching for MORE Lime Ricki news because their new 2011 swimsuits are all coming soon, and many of them use patterns that I developed with them, so I’ll be posting as they are released!

And now is actually a really good time to get a suit, since everything is on sale. When I first tried on one of their suits, I was amazed at the quality! These suits are made with very good quality materials, and right now their prices are so low that pretty much anything you’re getting is a steal. Probably at this point, their prices are below what you would pay for something at Target (let’s face it… I’m a Target shopper), but the quality is not even comparable. TREAT YOURSELF!

Baby and Grad at Shutterfly!

Some new designs of mine went live on Shutterfly recently. These were a lot of fun to work on. I found out that I’m expecting a girl right before I started the process of designing the baby announcements and shower invites, so it was an appropriate project for how I was feeling back then! And now, they’re all live before my girl even arrives! I suppose this leaves me with absolutely no excuse not to do baby announcements immediately after having our girl at the end of March!

Check them out! The company that I do this work through is called Petite Lemon (and hopefully I’ll be posting some work that I’ve done for their own store very soon!) and their line on Shutterfly is called Fresh Lemonade.

Ollibird’s Free iPhone Calendar

Today is my THIRTIETH birthday and as a gift to YOU, Mike and I are excited to offer a free 2011 calendar for your iPhone! Check out how cool you can be:

Here’s how it works:

1) Download the zipped file right here: Ollibird 2011 iPhone calendar

2) Get the files onto your iPhone in whatever way you like best (I personally hate syncing my iPhone and just find it easier to email myself the images and save all to my Saved Photos).

3) Each month, set the appropriate image as your wallpaper for your lock screen only (in my opinion, these images won’t work well as the background of your home screen).

That’s it! If you want to know a little bit about how this came together, here it is:

Every year I have a goal to make a calendar, and due to awesome clients who kept me very very busy this fall, I wasn’t able to do a new calendar (of course, I’m not counting the planners that I do for FranklinCovey). But the idea hit me yesterday that I could do a quick calendar for the iPhone! I used Mike’s amazing watercolor animals from our 2009 calendar and paired them with a great new font (Monroe) that my brother gave me for my birthday (some people don’t even understand why I would even WANT fonts for my birthday…) and the rest is yours to enjoy!

If you’re interested in learning how to do stuff like this yourself, by the way, don’t forget that Mike and I offer online classes and textbooks in Illustrator and Photoshop, starting at the beginning level! And they’re all on sale right now for Christmas. Check them out!

Here’s a preview of all 12 images:

New at Shutterfly!

Some more of my holiday cards went live on Shutterfly last night! It’s a lot of fun to see them, for sure! I’m especially proud that one of my cards is the very first thumbnail that you see when you click on Christmas cards. Yay! The company that I do this work for is called Petite Lemon, and their own online store launched recently. Check out their site for great gift ideas for Christmas! They specialize in personalized decor, stationery, and gifts! I haven’t done anything for them on their own site yet, but we’ll hope to change that over the next year or so—They’re awesome! Their exclusive line of cards on Shutterfly is done under the name of Fresh Lemonade.

Here are the cards that have gone up, in case you’re interested! (Click on the image to go to the Shutterfly listing!)

Alt Design Summit

I’m very excited that I’ll be speaking (teaching!) at Alt this year! I attend a handful of conferences every year to network and to promote Ollibird (and to have a little girl time and have fun) but by far my favorite is Alt, simply because it has everything to do with what I love most (design) and because of its all-star line-up of my blog/design heroes. This year, I’m very excited to be among the speakers at Alt! I hope to bump into some of you there, too!

(Check me out on the speakers page!)

Delighted to announce…

I’m very excited to announce that a blog design I did for mywedding.com has gone live! Check it out so that you can enjoy all its loveliness, and so that you can also take advantage of all the great content!

Delightfully Engaged

New at Franklin Covey

Today I’m excited to share some designs that I’ve done that are available at FranklinCovey! I worked on these back in March, I think, so it’s fun to see them on sale now!

This first one is a redesign of an existing planner, Her Point of View, that features artwork by Karn Knutson. My favorite part of this redesign is that the quote appears in a speech bubble. I was so excited when that design option was chosen because I think it’s so fun!

Her Point of View

This next one is a new planner called Botanica. I’ve linked to it below, but there are several versions of this planner (like one page per day, two pages per day, weekly, etc.) so go to the second link if you want to see all FC’s planners and choose a different format of this one! This was a VERY fun planner to work on!! I think it’s elegant, classy, and very feminine.

Botanica

Planner Refills

Below I’m showing just a little glimpse of the general look of the whole planner. It doesn’t look EXACTLY like this because these versions are from an earlier stage in planner development, but I didn’t feel like putting together 12 new spreads manually to show you EXACTLY what the planner looks like now. This is just a general idea.

Stay tuned for more updates this week on fun and exciting designs to hit the market!

Merry Christmas

I’m so excited that several Christmas cards I developed for Petite Lemon Prints went live on Shutterfly today! Working on a designer’s schedule means that you do Christmas designs in a very very non-Christmasy season. I worked on these designs in April, and you’d better believe that I was listening to Christmas music the whole time. How else can you get into the Christmas mood? (I laid off the hot chocolate and candy canes, though.)

Petite Lemon was a DELIGHT to work with. I’m not too proud to admit that if I printed out every email with listed revisions from them, I would probably end up with a stack of at least 25 pages, but as a designer, I have come to REALLY appreciate very specific feedback when it comes to revisions. It actually saves a ton of time. And I really can’t argue with Petite Lemon’s style and taste. Their feedback had an amazing way of taking my design to the next level. They know what they’re doing. (I love you, Paula.)

Without further ado, here are the designs that you can order from Shutterfly!! And I’m serving notice right now that I will take it personally if you (all of you reading this) send me a Christmas card that ISN’T one of these this year.

(And for Mike’s sake, I will clarify here that I am absolutely joking about that last line. But you know that nothing will warm my heart more than seeing my own designs come back to me with your photos this holiday season.)

Okay, so you might see a lot of “The Loveland Family” or similar text on most of these. I promise it’s not narcissistic (but it is fun to see all the photos of these “Lovelands” online and pretend they’re us). What it really is is a lack of imagination. As I designed these with Petite Lemon, I sent in over 30 (maybe even over 40?) different designs, and when you’re powering through design ideas, the last thing you want to do is also try to make up new names every time. So that’s why you’re going to see a lot of Lovelands.

Also, I really enjoyed reading Shutterfly’s product descriptions of my cards, so I’ll also share those here so that I am preserving them for my future posterity.

All Is Bright: Wish loved ones warmth and joy this season in this stylishly elegant Christmas card. The words “All is Bright” sparkle in script lettering next to the northern star on a cheery red background. A favorite photo shines brightly.

Starlight Sky: Illuminate a mantle with this star-filled Christmas card. Four favorite photos shine brightly against a midnight sky with the words “All is Bright.” There’s room for everyone’s names on this starry night.

Modern Joy Bliss: Ring in joy with a modern, playful wreath on a favorite photo. There’s room inside this beautiful Christmas card for personalized greetings and everyone’s names.

Shimmering Stars: Add wintry sparkle with shimmering stars in this shining Christmas card. A favorite photo is complemented by a bright red ribbon of warm wishes with room for everyone’s names.

Shimmering Snowflake Tree: Make the holidays really shine this year with a shimmering snowflake Christmas tree. A favorite photo brightens up this whimsical and fun Christmas card. There’s room for everyone’s names below the Christmas wishes.

Pictures in Red: Sometimes one picture is just not enough. This Christmas card lets you show off six favorite photos and everyone’s names on a cranberry-red background. (ed note: This is also available in other colors like blue and brown, but I’m not linking to them all. Also, my name for this one was the “Super Brag” for obvious reasons.)

Oh Ho Ho: Oh, ho, ho, ho says Santa. Show off two favorite photos next to the jolly man in the red suit. There’s room for your own greetings and everyone’s names in this adorable Christmas card.

Classic Modern Wreath: Hang a modern monogrammed wreath on a favorite photo in this stylish Christmas card. Wish family and friends well with a flourishing “Merry Christmas” and everyone’s names. (ed note: Is it classic or is it modern? Both!)

Candy Cane Frames: Eye candy dandy. Wish everyone a Merry Christmas with a Christmas card that’s oh-so-sweet. Candy-cane frames around three photos are a treat for the eyes. There’s room for everyone’s names on a snowy background.

Modern Chocolate Wreath: A modern classic. A sweet yet modern wreath holds an initial on a rich cocoa background in this Christmas card. Add two favorite photos and the names of everyone in your family.

Hip Holly Berry: Hip hip hooray for holly. Whimsical branches add a festive touch to a favorite photo. Add your family name below a message of peace to this modern Christmas card.

So there you go! Merry Christmas a little early! My Christmas gift to you this year was making your Christmas card shopping that much easier.

(Stay tuned for more posts over the next few days that showcase other exciting stuff I’ve worked on this year. Apparently September is a big month for the release of about half of everything I’ve worked on this year! So I’ll have more suggestions on how you can spend your money over the next week!)
