So nothing inspired this painting other than I wanted to paint a pretty portrait of Alma, and I love the 17th century garb. She could have been a lovely assistant to my Allan Ramsay, and we could have lived in Scotland because that is where he was from, and also because it wasn’t a great time to be living in Paris…CHOP! Plunk…….plunk. You get the idea.
